Open Source Buyer Portal

What’s changed?

We are happy to announce that this week we have launched the Open Source Buyer Portal project!!

Our out-of-the-box Buyer Portal provides simplicity and ease of use, allowing brands to quickly get set up with minimal technical expertise or expense. The open-source Buyer Portal now provides sophisticated B2B brands and design/developer agencies with all of the Out-of-the-box functionality plus the added ability to fully customize and control the portal experience. With access to the underlying code, B2B businesses can leverage a robust foundation to build bespoke buying experiences that meet their specific business needs.  This open-source approach aligns with the growing demand for adaptable and customizable solutions among Enterprise B2B businesses.

You can truly customize every pixel.

Migrating to the Buyer Portal

With the launch of the native and open-source Buyer Portals, we do recommend all merchants on the legacy theme version migrate to the Buyer Portal.

How is the Buyer Portal different from the Legacy Theme version?

This difference is primarily how B2B edition functions on the front end of your store to add B2B functionality for your buyers. The legacy theme version for Stencil runs on Stencil storefronts alone, whereas the B2B Edition Buyer Portal uses the Scripts API to deploy a React app (Controlled by B2BE) which is loaded alongside the Stencil storefront, or alongside a headless storefront. The Buyer Portal is served by our B2BE graphQl API, while also utilizing a combination of other core BigC APIs.

What’s the benefit of migrating?

  • Improved page speed

  • Improved feature sets

  • Improved mobile optimization and user experience

  • Improved support experiences

  • Greater theme flexibility (you can use any theme)

  • No Code/Low code customization features with the Native Buyer Portal

  • Significantly improved customization experience and possibilities with the Open Source Buyer Portal

  • Access to all new and upcoming features. Any features that have storefront components will not be backward compatible.

How do I migrate to the Buyer Portal?

What’s changing?

You will be able to set “Payment terms” or invoice due date at the company level. Historically this could only be done at the store level, and all companies would have the same payment terms.
